I'm not dead...I swear ; )

Apr. 23rd, 2008 | 07:08 pm
music: Spring Awakening - And Then There Were None

So...I haven't updated this thing in a year, huh? It's weird, I log on to LJ close to every day, but never post. Do any of my LJ friends still post? Or have me friended still? haha~ Mostly I look at LJ community posts when I come here. Anyway, I decided to post...I've wanted to for awhile, but couldn't think of anything to say really. Well, that's not completely true...but I don't know. You know, you'd think that your freshman year of college is the one that changes you the most, but I think this year has been full of a lot more changes than last year. Most of them were good, but the winter was difficult. I guess I don't really want to talk about it. It wasn't a really big deal...or it wouldn't be to anyone else, but for me it was all just sort of "meh" (haha, so descriptive). But yeah, really, most changes were good : ) I've made new friends, which is awesome and most um....surprising (?) change in my life is that I joined a sorority. Yes, that's right. A SORORITY!!! Don't roll your eyes at me! It's totally the truth and it's actually sort of awesome. I'm really excited about it. I just became a full member a few weeks ago, after 5 weeks of pledging. I could go on and on about how wonderful Theta Pi Gamma is, but I won't! (right now at least....lol~) All I'll say is that I have two positions for next semester: co-alumni chair and co-webmistress. I'm excited <3

I guess this post hasn't been overly informative, but oh well. I'd say I hope I'll post more in the future, but I don't know if that's going to happen! All I have to say is that good thing LJ isn't homework I guess...

Summer time girl

Apr. 29th, 2007 | 01:41 am
music: 松浦亜弥 - YOUR SONG~青春宣誓~

I just decided that I should make a LJ post...but I don't know what to say T_T (ha ha)

Anyway, I have only 1 1/2 weeks of school left. I'm reeeaaaalllllly excited. I'm ready to get out of here xD That being said, I don't know how my summer will go. You see, I'm sorta supposed to have a job but I don't have one as of yet *cough* And I want a job, but I sort of don't. I mean, I hate being a total summer bum. It makes me feel sick because of all the staying inside and having a bad sleep schedule, but when you're actually doing it, you don't want to quit xD It's addicting man! A few summers ago I had summer school econ at 7:45 in the morning (total yuck) but it actually felt good that I had the whole day ahead of me (even by the time I got home!) Otherwise I'll do the whole, go to sleep at 2, wake up at 2 thing which is really no good.

But where would I get a job??????? I have a severe dislike of the food-service industry, but where else can an 18-year-old with little job experience work? I had hoped to get a job at a day camp, but since I was way too nervous at the interview, I didn't get the job. Which sucks you know, because I'm good at working with kids. That's my job now. I know that job interviews are important in the real world, but what do they mean for a job like this? I was being interviewed with one other guy and he was a total smooth talker. Lawyer-type, ya know? Just because he's some suave Davis guy doesn't mean he's actually good with kids *rolls eyes* But whatever, I didn't get the job and that's that. I obviously need to apply somewhere where they don't see over-achieving DHS students all the time. At least I have a little while to look for jobs until the "real" summer starts. I'm guessing that most people won't be able to start summer jobs until June-ish, but I'll be ready in a few weeks. Ugh...who am I kidding? I can't a job. I'll just be some summer bum @_@ I'm so lame xD Maybe I'll try to go outside at least. It'd be nice to go to the pool everyday...but that's hard unless I drive because even though it seems close enough to walk, Davis summers are pretty brutal -_- and I don't bike...I fail at being a Davisite xD

So, I should make some plans for myself this summer. Here's a list of mine so far (okay, so it's not like I'm self-improving, but whatever)

The Ten )

Hm...I told myself to come up with 10, and I did, but they're not so good, huh? xD I *know* there was some other things I wanted to have me do, but I'm not sure what! Oh well, I'll remember. And um...yeah, that's it I guess. Peace out ; ) lol

Yeah, I'm actually updating...

Apr. 5th, 2007 | 07:49 pm
music: Kaoru Amane - タイヨウのうた

So, I'm finally updating. I haven't updated my LJ in months, but I do check my friends' page all the time! (I really do) I guess I felt like I didn't have anything to say. Since I'm in college now, I probably do have things to say, but it doesn't feel like it to me. Anyway, I'll just update anyway. If you're bored, then don't read, I guess xD

Hm...what to say? Well, I'm sure most of you know (who reads this thing anyway? D: ) that I'm here at Beloit College in southern Wisconsin. It's so south, in fact, that if I drove (which I wouldn't, since I can't drive & don't have a car) 5 minutes south I'd be in Illinois. Actually, South Beloit is in Illinois and Beloit is in Wisconsin, but they're connected like it's one town. It doesn't matter much to me, because I'm on campus about 100% of the time. You see, Beloit isn't such a nice town. It's a former industrial town like many of the small towns in the eastern half of the United States. After factories were shut down, the economy just sucked in these towns. Basically, Beloit today is a self-contained ghetto. I think the town has maybe around 30,000 residents, but it's a seriously crappy place. There's a lot of crime & sketchy people around. Campus itself is nice though. I think these crappy towns are just part of the territory when it comes to small liberal arts colleges. I hear they're all basically like this. Colleges this small just don't make a large impact on a town's economy which is in total contrast to a college town like Davis. In Davis, we exist because of UCD. In Beloit, the townspeople don't really think of the college at all. I don't want to leave Beloit because of the town, obviously, but for anyone who's still looking at colleges, I advise you to seriously examine the town you'll be in. It seems like it wouldn't be a big deal, but if sort of is. I guess it depends on whether you'd really care about something like that.

College. OMG

Aug. 26th, 2006 | 12:38 pm
location: Wisconsin
music: YUI for 雨音薫 - Good-bye days

Hello everyone! Wow, I haven't updated for a really long time ^^;; I meant to update right when I got to Beloit...but that didn't really happen.

Anyway, on August 11th I left Davis for Chicago where I spent some time before coming to Beloit. It was really fun. I saw Wicked, Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil and went to 3 museums: Art Institute of Chicago (I saw American Gothic!), Field Museum, and Museum of Science and Industry. Then we went to Madison for 2 days and we went a horridly intense shopping expedition for all of my school stuff. I ended up buying so much stuff and spending a lot of money! ^^;; Then we all went to Beloit and here I am...yeah.

Beloit is pretty fun so far. Unfortunately, being the shy person that I am, I'm not connecting to that many people that fast. I have been hanging out a lot with this one girl on my floor and she's really nice. Even though our classes haven't officially started yet, we've all had to be in our First Year Initiative (FYI) class everyday. The people in that class are nice enough, but not 'best friend' material or anything xD I think I'll find more people with similar interests to me once I start my classes though. And those start on Tuesday (!)

My room is really nice. It's a 9x12 single, and though it's smaller than my room at home, it isn't smaller by much. I still have to put up some posters or something though. Luckily I actually bought 2 posters yesterday. One is Tinkerbell and one is Disney Princesses. They're pretty sweet.

It's weird that there are so many midwesterners here! Weird for me, I mean. Looking at the geographical situation of my school, it makes perfect sense xD I'm happy today is Saturday. I have no required anythings today...I'm just free free free! (already being annoyed with school...uh oh, bad sign xD )

Well, I'll post later I guess.

POTC

Jul. 9th, 2006 | 07:49 pm
music: 上木彩矢 - A constellation

Ooh, I saw POTC 2 yesterday! I was gonna write about it yesterday, but I was too tired x_x It was really good! I wanted to see it Friday, actually, but I knew that it was going to be majorly crowded in Davis; it always is when there's a popular movie. So we went (me, my mom, and my dad) to Brendan Theaters in Vacaville. I picked the earliest show, at 10:30 (lol) That theater is really nice though, and we got good seats ^_^ OMG...I love POTC soooo much, just everything about it! It's always been my fave ride in Disneyland (when I went in March I went on the ride 5 times...teehee) and the 1st movie was just amazing! (I saw that in theaters 3 times!) Dead Man's Chest wasn't *quite* as good as the 1st one, but that was okay. The action in this movie was exquisite, and I don't even like action movies (but this is more of an adventure movie, so it's okay). And OMG, Orlando Bloom was HOT! Seriously, leadership like that in guys makes me melt...

Anyway, I've been reading articles and POTC DMC blew away the records for its opening weekend. It made the most in one day ever, beating Star Wars Episode 3 and beat the opening weekend record that was set by Spider Man in 2002. Heh heh heh. I wonder how the 3rd one will do? Pretty well, I guess. Anyway, this all leads me to say that Jerry Bruckheimer produces some good stuff and he must be really rich...Um, yeah.

On a side note: wow, Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth are going to be in a movie together next year (or the year after) I hate her x_x

Happy 4th

Jul. 4th, 2006 | 10:34 pm
music: SAYAKA - ever since

I haven't updated in awhile...it's weird though, because I go to livejournal just about everyday, which people might or might not notice, depending on whether I comment on your entries or not. Beware...I'm a quiet lurker o_o

I love summer, ya know. Of course, my summer this year is going to be a bit short. About 2 months, actually. You see, halfway through August I'll be jetting off to spend some time in Chicago and from there, I'll directly go to my college (OMG), which is named Beloit and it's in Wisconsin, if you forgot/didn't know. So if anyone wants to do anything with me, it's now or never (oh my goodness...that's so depressing...) To tell the truth, what I'd like to do is go see POTC 2 on Thursday night at 11:59, but if I wanted to do that, I should've planned ahead and bought tickets and whatever *sigh* I can't wait for that movie though. Maybe I'll go Friday morning...I really, really want to go!!!!

Anyway...today was fun. My whole family was home because it was July 4th, of course. It would've been extra cool, except that they were all home Saturday through today, so basically it was just like a 4-day weekend for them. I have the pleasure to not have anything to do my whole summer, which is pretty nice. My parents have work and my sister has summer school (ouch. 5 hours of chemistry daily for 6 weeks...that's just painful) and me? I don't have to do anything, though truthfully, I should've gotten a job. Details, details... Anyway, I was planning to wake up early today, but I acidentally was up at 4:30 and didn't go back to sleep til about 6:00 and then I slept for quite a few more hours x_x Oh well...I used the computer in the morning and then my mom reminded me to make some Apple Crisp. She had wanted it Sunday (or maybe Monday?), but I told her I'd make it for the Fourth of July, because apple-y desserts were just oh so American. And since she actually remembered, I had to make it x_x It turned out well though, and Mom and Dad actually peeled the apples for me, which was nice because it would've taken my forever to peel 10 of those things...it took me long enough to make the thing anyway. I faced little obstacles like running out of sugar and using brown sugar instead etc. (how does a person run out of white sugar? really now) To tell the truth, I like Apple Pie recipes that use brown sugar as opposed to white sugar, so the Apple Crisp tasted better actually...but still x_x Then later I watched some of the Independence Day Monk Marathon. Monk is so good...I actually watched 2 episodes that I either hadn't seen or didn't remember...they were both from 2004, so I assume that they came out when I didn't have TiVo and those episodes were new ones that I had missed at the time. Oh yeah, or I just forgot them (but I doubt that). And then we had grilled hamburgers for dinner, yum. I opted out of going to the fireworks this year. I don't know, but it seems to me that they're always too short, and it's too crowded, and we have to park so far away that we might've just walked from our house instead x_x I decided to see if we could see them near our house anyway once I heard them start. When I walked with my parents to the entrance of Village Homes, we could actually see about half of them, so that was nice. And that was about it for today... ^^;;

I should update more...especially since I have more time in the summer and stuffs. I was thinking that I want to do a "Holly Special" which will outline every single show on tv that I actively watch. Then when I was really thinking about it, I realized how many shows that was O_O So maybe I don't...(and I don't even spend that much time watching tv, compared to using the computer or anything...craziness)

Ooh, I'm exited for this movie to come out. It's Disney animation/live-action that looks interesting. I hope it's good. But it's filming right now anyway...

There are so many movies that are coming out next year that I wanna see...<a href="http://imdb.com/title/tt0494238/>Inkheart</a> for example. The sad thing about movies that are in production is that sometimes they never come out :(

Senior Ditch Day

May. 27th, 2006 | 08:22 am
music: 河辺千恵子 - ひだまり。

I love Senior Ditch day. 4 day weekend. Yes! Anyway, since I didn't have to do any homework Alex & I went to see The Da Vinci Code. It was pretty good. The reviews haven't been giving it enough credit. It's just supposed to be fun, not something that's truthful or deep & meaningful. Oh well. Then yesterday I saw another movie! X-Men 3 ^_^ I actually wasn't satisfied with it at all, seeing how they killed off some of my faves (grrrr). But they had a different director for this 3rd one and no one thinks it's as good, which is bad for the ending of a trilogy *pouts* Oh well...But it was bad, because the movie reminded me of just how into X-Men I was at one point...and also reminded me of how I could still be into X-Men...And that's not bad because of money, but because of time. When I become obsessed with something, I like to know everything about it, and you can see the problem with obsessing with something that's been around for 40+ years, not to mention all the spin-offs it's had...Oh dear...

On another note, I have to spend all of tomorrow on my Human Geo project *sigh*

EDIT: Damn, I just found out that there were "secret" clips after the end of the X-Men movie after the credits...now I have to go again (just kidding ;)

AP + Maki

May. 5th, 2006 | 09:08 pm
music: 後藤真希 - ガラスのパンプス (Preview)

Yay! It's finally Friday! This week seemed very long, thanks to AP tests and everything (especially my French test from Monday that took from 12:30 to 5:00...gr...) Next week I have Gov (which I haven't really studied for and never learned in the first place, but for some reason I'm taking the test anyway...) and then the week after I have Human Geography. Normally Human Geo would have been this week, but it's time slot was the same as my French test, so I'm taking it at a make-up time. That's good, because I haven't finished the book yet. I've gotta get on that...plus studying for Gov (which is more pressing since the test is on Tuesday) I'm silly for signing up for these tests...

Ooh, I'm excited! I listened to a preview for Maki Goto's new single called "Glass no Pumps". It's fast and a lot of people have described it as being "avex-y" Songs like "Afurechau...BE IN LOVE", "Ai no Bakayarou" and "Daite yo! PLEASE GO ON" will always be my favorites, but this song is good too. I <3 Maki

EDIT: Now I'm in a bad mood. I found out something that happened in this manga accidentally that's way ahead of where I am...something big...blegh...now I'm annoyed and have a dark cloud hanging over me :(

Boredom...

Apr. 29th, 2006 | 05:22 pm
music: Hazel Nuts Chocolate - Future☆Popp

Blegh...I'm really bored x_x I've been doing stuff reserved for when I'm really bored. I updated some stuff I haven't updated in forever, expanded a BOUNCEBACK page for the J-Pop wiki, made some cute buttons for my last.fm page (they're very cute by the way, look on the left), and I even went back and tagged my entries (not all of them, but a lot of them). I realized I've been on lj for over 2 years now (I haven't been on for so long) A lot of my older entries were dedicated to posting my manga lists, but I haven't done that in quite awhile, it's too long (besides, I have my list here:
current manga list
I'm so bored I was even thinking about making a quizilla quiz O_o I haven't done that in years, lol. They're fun though. And I'd be much better at doing them now I think. Maybe I will make one...Actually, I want to learn how to use other (better *cough*) quiz makers.

I'm sad T_T

Apr. 28th, 2006 | 11:10 am
music: Sugar - Heartful

Well, I'm staying home sick today and I just woke up and took a shower and what happends? I hear the most startling news that I've heard in a while! Asami Konno and Makoto Ogawa will be graduating Morning Musume...for good! That's right, they're completely leaving the Hello! Project. Let me tell you, once you join, you don't leave!!!! Let's put this in perspective. Before this news, there were only 3 members of Morning Musume who completely left the Hello! Project (and this out of an overall 22 members since the beginning which was about 9 years ago) and the last such graduation happened in May 2000! And now 2 members!??? What's happening with the world???!!! Not that I actually care that much about Asami or Makoto. Asami can't sing and Mako is just dissapointing. Of course, this will bring Morning Musume to an appalling 8 members! The last time Morning Musume has had 8 or less members was in early 2000. Anyway, if there's any good that's coming out of this, I hope it's a new audition that will eventually add about 4 new girls in. No "miracle one-member 7th generation for me".

Blegh, I hate it when H!P springs all this stuff on me. And they haven't had much good news for awhile either x_x

music: 上木彩矢 - Honey?

Yay! It's 10:00 and I'm not at school! (even better, I don't have to be at school) I really don't want to go to 4th period though. Since today's STAR test, there was 2nd, test, lunch, test, 4th, 6th. It's ridiculous to come for 50 minutes in the morning and then go back a few hours later for another 50 minutes x_x Yesterday was good though, I went to 1st and 3rd period then went home for the rest of the day. Not that I did anything useful though...I have a cold so yesterday I watched tv for 12 hours O_o (isn't that bad? lol) Yep, from about 10:00 to 10:00. I watched a bunch of stuff I TiVo-ed. I watched 100 greatest teen stars (from VH1), the Desperate Housewives recap ep, a few crime shows, then later at night I watched 10 Things I Hate About You. Good times. I did take a few breaks for doing my French homework (isn't that good?) and filling out some paperwork for college. I didn't use the computer at all because my dad needed it all day. But now I don't want to go to 4th period T_T I'll have to finish a test which means I have to find out how to do the stuff before then. I should have gone to the library for 4 hours to study math & for AP tests, but I was all 'screw that'. Good thing my mom's on a business trip until Sunday xD I wasn't thinking seriously of it before, but maybe I'll have my dad call and excuse me...(ooh...that's bad...) I really do have a cold plus I don't want to take that test. And seriously, for just that 45 minute class, it's going to take about 2 hours out of my day (getting there a bit early, going to class, waiting for the bus, taking the bus, walking home from the bus...) But that's actually bad. I think I've missed math about a dozen times this year *cough* I'm not sure how that happened exactly...Oh well, I have a B (which is the best I've had in math in a long time, and I don't think I could do better) Plus I'll do better on my test if I don't take it today...of course, he might think I was just ditching becuase of STAR testing (which I am, actually) but he'll probably still let me take it...anyway, I dunno...I better go, blegh.

Going to Santa Cruz!

Apr. 20th, 2006 | 03:00 pm

music: 倉木麻衣 - Honey, feeling for me

Teehee...I'm such a sell-out (lol) I just signed up for lj's new account where you display ads on your page. Anyway, I figure most people just read their friend's page instead of my page (when they read my entries at all, I mean). I get 15 icons now ^_^ And the ads aren't so bad, I'm used to them. Besides, how else would lj pay for their servers and stuff? Ooh, fun, rationalizing

And yay! In a few hours I'll be driving to Santa Cruz! Early weekend for me! I get to miss a math test tomorrow and probably lots of other stuff. And now I don't have to clean my feet (lol...don't ask) I'm visiting UCSC and I'll be back Friday night or afternoon. I'm going with my dad and it should be fun. I need to update my iPod...

Aaaaaaah!!!!! I'm soooo nervous about my Japanese exchange student who's coming tomorrow!!!! My Japanese sucks and while it seems like her English is better than my Japanese, I have a feeling that me, my sister, and her won't be able to communicate very well ^^;;
At least since she's coming it gives me a chance to do a thorough cleaning of my room (which she will be staying in). I'm washing all the comforters and blankets even (that doesn't happen too often...) My room looks really nice right now and I wish I had a digital camera to take pictures with and post online (lol)

Borders

Feb. 26th, 2006 | 01:09 pm
music: 堀江由衣 - Shiny merry-go-round

I went to Borders yesterday! I haven't been in awhile. I went to Walden Books last weekedn but they didn't have anything new...(well, not much at least). When I went to Borders I was bombarded with all these books I wanted! (it makes me sad that a few weeks I went, they didn't have anything new I wanted, so I caught up on some series...I should catch up, but I don't wanna!!!!) I ended up getting 6 books (yikes!) and there were a few more that I didn't get (those would be Meru Puri 3 and Tokyo Boys & Birls 3) I shouldn't have started all those Shojo Beat series in the summer ^^;; So anyway, I bought Ultra Maniac 5, Ceres 14, NANA 2, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne 2, Snow Drop 12, and Sugar Sugar Rune 2 (love!!!) I saved the one I wanted to read most for last, so right now the only one I haven't read yet it Sugar^2 Rune. Anyway, it wasn't till I got home that I realized that 3/6 of those series were the last volumes!!!! (and the other 3 are number 2's... ^^;; ) I was excited because one of my fave things is to finish off series!!! I just counted and I have about 25 completed series, not counting one-shots or anything. It feels weird to finish Ceres though...It's weird, they released those 5 volumes of Ultra Maniac in about 5 months (actually, it was 8...but still! I guess I got the 5th one early...that's a first for VIZ) It's a good thing that Snow Drop finished actually. That series should have stopped at about volume 9 or something...that was way to dragged out. Everything is completely concluded by the 12th volume so she created some minor conflicts that weren't at all necessary or realistic...soooo annoying...Anyway, KKJ was good (well, I already knew that...) Arinacchi is so cool ^w^ And NANA was great! Of course, I have volumes 1-8 in French (I should get more) and read them, plus I have a subscription to Shojo Beat so it's probably pointless for me to be buying them...but whatever. I was just about to read Sugar Sugar Rune, but then my dad gave me the comp, so I guess it can wait. I've already seen some of the anime that corresponds to this volume though (I think so at least...sometimes I get confused between anime and manga of series...that's no good ^^;;) Lalala...that was enough about manga I guess.

Squee! >.

Jan. 31st, 2006 | 07:30 pm
music: YUI - TOKYO

The day I got the info on who my Japanese exchange girl is, I emailed her! Her name is Manami, she's 16, and is a 1st year in high school. She's both my sister's and my exchange student are her age is right in the middle or ours, though she's in Lauren's year of school. So anyway, I got an email back from her recently! She told me the places she wants to go. She wants to go shopping, go to the sea (which is the Pacific same as in Japan and will be just as cold, lol), and she wants to go to Disneyland if it's possible. I'd like to take her, but she's only here 2 weeks and over no vacations or anything. It was weird though, my mom said that maybe we could fly down for a weekend or something though O.o Wow, I feel like such a spoiled rich girl saying something like that, and I was very surprised! But that would be cool! But anyway, it's weird, about 2 weeks before Manami comes we'll be coming back from Disneyland. My mom is having a conference down there so we get to go! She said it's okay for me to miss school because I'm a senior (sweet) and she wouldn't mind giving Lauren a break either. This will be only the 3rd time I've gone, even though I've lived in CA for 2/3 of my life...I'm excited! Anyway, we can definately go shopping (duh!) and go to the sea. It was sad, when my French girl was here 2 years ago (Sarah) she brought almost no money with her. The French teachers said ALL the French girls who came here loved shopping so a lot of our excersions were planned around that *sigh* Oh well... Oh yeah, Manami told me her fave manga were NANA and Hana Yori Dango which I've read both (only some of them though...) Of course, something they both have in common is that they were both turned live-action in 2005, lol. Which reminds me that I want to see the NANA movie and the Hana Yori Dango drama. And Manami said some of her favorite music artists were Ashlee Simpson, Hamasaki Ayumi, Koda Kumi, Amuro Namie, SMAP etc.

So, what presents should I get her? I'd get her an Ashlee Simpson CD but she probably has them all (or both, she only has 2? I don't listen to her >.< ) What do you think?
